Our Story

Building beautiful, functional homes through thoughtful design and exceptional craftsmanship.

How We Started

Twilight Fall began in 2011 when founder Rebecca Ashford decided to leave a corporate architecture firm and start something more personal. After years of working on large commercial projects, she wanted to focus on spaces where people actually live—homes that needed her attention to detail and genuine care.

The first project was a modest kitchen renovation in Leeds. The clients were sceptical about hiring someone new to the industry, but they took a chance. That kitchen led to referrals, which led to more projects, and gradually a team formed around a shared commitment to doing exceptional work.

What started as one person with a sketchbook and a van has grown into a studio of twelve talented professionals. We've expanded our capabilities, refined our processes, and worked on increasingly complex projects. But we've never lost sight of why we do this work: to create homes that genuinely improve how people live.

What We Believe

Design Serves Life

Beautiful spaces matter, but they must also work for how you actually live. We design for real daily routines, not idealised magazine spreads. A kitchen should be as practical at 7am on a Tuesday as it is when hosting dinner parties.

Quality Over Speed

Rushing compromises results. We build realistic timelines that allow for thoughtful work, and we stick to them. When tradespeople have adequate time, they deliver better outcomes. Your patience during the process yields a better finished home.

Honesty Builds Trust

We discuss problems openly and admit when we're unsure about something. If a choice will impact your budget or timeline, you'll know immediately. We've built our reputation on transparency, and we protect it carefully.

Details Define Experience

The way a door closes, how light falls at different times of day, the tactile quality of materials—these details might seem minor, but they shape how a space feels. We obsess over them so you don't have to.

Collaboration Creates Better Results

You know your home and your needs better than anyone. We bring expertise in design and construction. The best projects emerge when both perspectives are valued equally.

Sustainability Matters

We consider the environmental impact of material choices and construction methods. Designing for longevity is our primary sustainability strategy—a well-built space that lasts fifty years is inherently more sustainable than one requiring replacement in ten.

How We Approach Each Project

Research and Discovery

Before proposing solutions, we invest time understanding your needs. This includes site visits, conversations about daily routines, and exploration of what you value in a home. We look at how natural light moves through spaces, where you spend most of your time, and what frustrates you about your current layout.

Conceptual Design

Initial concepts explore multiple directions. We present options rather than prescribing a single solution, giving you meaningful choices about how to proceed. These early presentations include mood boards, material samples, and rough spatial layouts.

Detailed Planning

Once a direction is agreed, we develop comprehensive technical drawings and specifications. This documentation ensures everyone—from structural engineers to cabinet makers—understands exactly what's required. Thorough planning prevents costly surprises during construction.

Careful Execution

During construction, we maintain regular site visits and coordination meetings. Our project managers track progress daily, addressing issues before they escalate. We document everything, providing you with updates and making ourselves available for questions.

Thoughtful Completion

As work concludes, we conduct detailed inspections to ensure everything meets our standards. We walk through the completed space with you, explaining how systems work and addressing any concerns. Our relationship doesn't end at handover—we check in after a few weeks and remain available for questions.

Areas of Expertise

Period Property Renovation

We understand the specific challenges of working with older buildings. Uneven floors, solid walls, and original features require specialist knowledge to modernise sympathetically whilst preserving character.

Kitchen Design

Kitchens demand careful planning to balance workflow, storage, and aesthetics. We've designed everything from compact galley kitchens to expansive family spaces with bespoke cabinetry.

Bathroom Renovation

Waterproofing, ventilation, and spatial efficiency make bathroom projects technically demanding. We handle everything from powder rooms to luxurious primary bathrooms.

Extensions & Conversions

Adding space requires careful integration with existing architecture. We manage planning permissions, structural work, and design continuity to create seamless additions.

Sustainable Renovation

Improving energy efficiency whilst maintaining comfort is increasingly important. We specify appropriate insulation, efficient systems, and sustainable materials without compromising design quality.

Colour Consultation

Colour profoundly affects how spaces feel. We provide expert guidance on palettes that work with your lighting conditions, architectural features, and personal preferences.
